The Cambridge Room of the Cambridge Public Library
The Cambridge Room has over 150 collections, spanning the 17th to 21st Centuries, featuring the history of Cambridge. The majority of our collections focus on the political and social history of the City and are particularly strong in the mid-20th Century to the present. Our genealogy resources include our Historic Cambridge Newspaper Collection and Cambridge City Directories (both available online). We also have a substantial online digital collection freely accessible.
The Cambridge Room, which houses the Cambridge Public Library’s Archives and Special Collections, is charged with the responsibility of evaluating, collecting, organizing, describing, and preserving records that document the history of Cambridge. We ensure that the records of enduring historical value are made available to the public for research and reference use.
